Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C), Gas mark 6. Place the berries in an ovenproof dish and sprinkle over enough of the sugar to taste. This will depend on how sweet the berries you are using are; the frozen selection tend not be as ripe, so it’s best use the full amount.

Place the flour in a bowl and rub in the butter until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in the dried milk if using along with the brown sugar and almonds. Sprinkle the crumble topping over the berry mixture and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the crumble topping is golden brown and the berry juice is bubbling around the sides.

To serve, place the mixed berry crumble straight to the table and divide among wide-rimmed bowls with some lightly whipped cream or ice cream.
